Fireplace + Mantle Makeover
Reclaimed Wood Mantle + Shiplap Feature Wall
Over the last few years, we’ve slowly but surely completed the fireplace/mantle makeover! It has been a long learning process but the end result turned out better than we could have even imagined! I mean, just check out the progress!
Day 1
the “Before”
During Demo
Who puts a toilet in the family room?
Building the Frame
What’s behind the shiplap feature wall? A very sturdy frame custom built by myself, Derris and Daddio!
You gotta recycle once and a while...
Fun Fact: The “shiplap” is actually our left over floorboards! Hey, when you’re on a budget sometimes you have to improvise!
Add a lil' paint
Wall painted, TV mounted! **It stayed in this state for quite some time…still to go: finish the sides, add the legs, build the mantle!
Ta-Da All Done!
Finished up the sides of the shiplap with a corner round + painted what was left of the visible wood frame. Built out legs for bottom portion of fireplace and added the beautiful reclaimed wood mantle!
Not only did we built this masterpiece using scrap material from the remodel, but the amazing reclaimed wood mantle came from our old fence! Feels like we held onto a little bit of the “old house” this way! Not to mention, its freaking gorgeous and matches the floors to a T! #luckyus
We spend the most time in this little room and I am so proud of the progress we made! xx
